If you have purchased an older home in a business district and have chosen to transform it into a law office, one of the areas that you may want to address is the indoor railing system that your clients will be using. Exchange the worn wooden railing system for a glass one to give the inside of your building a prestigious and modern appearance.

Choose A Framed Or Frameless Railing

The two types of railing systems that you can choose from are framed and frameless. A framed system consists of tempered or laminated glass panels that are encased with an aluminum or metal frame. The top handrail that is added to this type of railing is usually constructed of glass so that the railing has a fairly uniform appearance.

A frameless system lacks aluminum or metal, which would give a railing system a seamless appearance. The glass that is used in the construction of railings can withstand heavy loads and will preserve views inside of your establishment.

As you are coming down the steps, you can see who is seated in the waiting area, and as your clients head to and from your upstairs office, they will be able to enjoy the beautiful decor that you have used to adorn the inside of the building.

Plan The Installation And Add Decorative Features

After selecting a railing system for your business, plan to have the installation completed after you have set up your office so that you won't be needing to use the staircase while the installation is underway. During this time, think of ways to create an attractive and functional seating area.

Lush foliage, potted greenery, ceramic sculptures, and an indoor fountain can all be appealing to the senses and may help your clients remain calm while they are waiting to consult with you. Keep in mind that the items that you choose to add to the waiting area should be fairly easy to move when you would like to clean the glass railing.

Also, don't place anything sharp next to the railing because this could cause damage to the new addition that would require a professional buffing session or the replacement of one or more glass panels.

Choose thickly padded furnishings and a glass top coffee table for your clients to use. Set the furnishings up several feet away from the railing so that the couches or chairs are facing the glass structure. This will allow your patrons to keep tabs on when you or one of your office staff is descending the stairs.
